In honor of the year of the rat and Chinese New Year (Feb. 7), iRiver’s coating their rat/mouse-shaped Mplayer in gold. This seems like it’s real gold, seeing as each one is individually numbered and comes in a limited edition box. Puget Gaming systems’ "Deluge" Gaming box is headed our way, and its specs suggest we’ll be drowning in frames per second. It’s got three Nvidia video cards wedded with SLI, Dual Penryn CPUs, solid state drives, and all the other cool stuff you want to configure into it.

A base config, with Core 2 Duos and a single XFX 8800 GT video card, will set you back about $2,500. Pack in triple 8800 Ultras with quad-core chips and 4GB of RAM and, well, you know what they say about having to ask…

Buffalo has just added the BKBU-SKJ109/SV, a new keyboard with an attached Skype handset. The USB keyboard is a full 109 key model and includes a Skype certified handset to the right of the numeric keypad. Strangely it seems that this keyboard was either photographed with that wonderful iPhone hand-model or possibly the handset is just very small.

The Buffalo BKBU-SKJ109/SV is going to be available beginning in early October and is expected to retail for $65.

Though the $100 MSRP seems steep, it’s on par with other bluetooth devices at launch. The SurfaceSound Compact has a rechargeable battery rated for 15 hours of talk time or 22 days of standby, and features Bluetooth 1.2 connectivity. Mmm. Nothing says “Yum!” quite like the sight of a sweet confection in the shape of a beetle larva. Despite its unappetizing appearance (unless you’re Timon or Pumbaa), the candy is actually made from milk and white chocolate, cornflakes, orange peel, and . . . well, we’re back to unappetizing with this one . . . dried squid.

Anyone with a Japanese address and a questionable sweet tooth can order these chocolates online for about $2 apiece, or head over to the Chocolate and Sweets Expo in Tokyo (going on now until March 9th) in hopes of snagging a sample.

Mamiya Pistol camera is a half-frame 35mm camera. Only 250 pieces were made back in 1954 by Mamiya of Japan and in 1993 fist one was sold for $16,500. Now, second one is on eBay and is expected to fetch $25,000.

While the Treo 600 or 650 may be just a memory (albeit good and bad) for a lot of the Palm users, a class action lawsuit that originally began in 2005 has just received a settlement offer. This lawsuit was dealing with the many issues that were experienced with those models and claimed that Palm “misrepresented claims regarding the phones in advertising” and in turn delivered phones that “were “inherently defective” and “failed at unacceptably high rates.”

“Palm is entering into this settlement to avoid burdensome and costly litigation. The settlement is not an admission of wrong-doing or an indication that any law was violated,” the company said in its summary of the settlement.

The offer is simple, Palm will give a $75 cash rebate that you can use to replace a Treo 600 and $50 cash rebate that you can use to replace a Treo 650. The cash rebates are assuming that you had to replace your phone two or more times after your purchase. In addition to the cash rebate Palm is also offering a “right of repair” form that can be used by customers who had trouble but never had to replace their phone.
