Coby has unveiled the MP735 portable media player to the rest of the world at CeBIT 2008. In addition to its rather small 1.66″ LCD color display, you get a touch-based navigation system and swiveling-type stereo speakers. No idea on how much this will cost nor when will it be available, but I think the display is way too small for a portable media player. After all, squinting one’s eyes 10 minutes into a movie is just plain unacceptable, what more if you’re stuck on a long haul flight, having left your ipod at home.

Although this is far from being the weirdest union (or proposal, for that matter) we’ve ever seen, Xanga user p3ng decided to throw tradition to the wind (at least momentarily) when proposing to his now-fiancée. Put simply, he built a custom version of Bejewled (the lady’s favorite game in the whole wide world) in which a pixelated engagement ring scrolled onto the screen once a certain score was hit. Needless to say, his awestruck girlfriend could barely contain her excitement as she uttered “yes,” and we absolutely expect the Guitar Zeros to be the house band at the forthcoming reception.

So you didn’t keep an eye out for a Sidekick thief while texting on the subway like we told you to and now your Sidekick is gone. After reporting it to T-Mobile and the proper authorities, what is one to do? Well, if you’re like NY teenager Yudelka Polanco you’ll start doing detective work. The great thing about the Sidekick is that you can still log in to your desktop interface and find out how the person that stole it is using it (as long as they didn’t pull the sim and login as a different user). Most thieves are dumb and will leave behind some clues. Yudelka was able to get ahold of her thief’s email address and through a search on MySpace pulled up his profile. Through some additional detective work online she was able to get some pictures an information on the guy and took that info to the police. The police were able to identify 16-year-old Victor Hernandez and busted him for the theft of the Sidekick Slide as well as a number of other charges. Way to go Yudelka!

Mention rectal thermometer and you can see a lump forming in my throat. I just hate any sort of probes going up where the sun don’t shine, but if I were a kid and I see Spongebob Squarepants smiling widely like that, chances are the pain would automatically lessen (or even disappear) when he gets down to business. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t be smiling like Spongebob if I knew just which orifice I was created to be stuck into. The Spongebob Squarepants rectal thermometer retails for $16.95 from Amazon.

I must be dehydrated, because I’m writing about another drinking-related gadget. This one is a bit more simplistic than the single-serve blender I spoke of earlier. Some people tend to burn their hands (or tongues) on hot coffee or hot chocolate, which is never fun. Other times you’ll leave a cup sitting around for longer than you realize, then take a swig of a disgustingly-cold drink. That’s never fun. This simple mug makes it blindingly obvious how warm your drink is.
The mug is coated with a heat sensitive glaze which changes color according to the temperature of the beverage contained within. Sure, it’s not a necessity to have your cup tell you how warm your drink is, I think you can find out yourself. That’s really not the point though, it looks cool and it might save you from taking a sip of nasty coffee now and then. The asking price for one of these mugs is $25.

The MagStay Pro clip helps keep your MagSafe power connector in place, regardless of whether it is on a 15″ or 17″ MacBook Pro. It isn’t really complicated in design, being a retainer that hooks into the USB port right next to the MagSafe, preventing it from being disconnected. In addition, it enables you to store the tiny plastic cap that comes with the MagSafe power adapter. The $11.99 MagStay Pro clip is meant for folks who hate the MagSafe coming out accidentally while you’re using the MacBook Pro on your lap although it does throw in a new problem - tripping over cords.

Check out this DIY rifle that will definitely make you the envy of others. It can be configured into different combinations, depending on your creativity and preference. This sniper rifle shoots yellow rods, but I’d be extremely careful as to where I point this thing in order to avoid any injuries. Take note that this project is not a toy and should be used by responsible adults only. It has a firing range of approximately 120 feet, but then again, that depends on the type of elastic you use. All you need to do is pull the firing pin back and shoot the gun in order to send a yellow projectile spitting out.

We’ve all ideas the designers at Cupertino had good intentions when designing the MagSafe adapter, but just in case you can’t seem to find the value in said feature, the $11.99 MagStay Pro is out to remedy your curious quandary. As with the JerkStopper, this concoction actually plugs into your MBP’s nearby USB port in order to get a better grip on the machine. Apparently, this thing is designed to help you avoid any “unintentional disconnections” in power, but aside from totally blocking your USB port (no passthrough?), you’re also begging for some extraneous repair bills. To each his / her own, we guess.
