We’ve been hearing about the HTC Dream (likely not pictured above) for what seems like an eternity on a tech timeline. Now “a person close to the situation” tells InfoWorld that the Dream is indeed HTC’s Android phone. Remember, HTC is widely expected to be the first from the gate with a retail phone featuring Google’s open source OS. The Dream is said to measure 3-inches wide by 5-inches long and feature a full QWERTY keypad that “either slides out or swivels.” Right, exactly what Forbes told us 5 months ago. Still, it’s always a good sign when the rumor mongers align. Whatever happens, we certainly expect the first Android phone to be exceptionally spec’d as a showcase of the OS’ power and possibilities to come.

var The Blu-ray 2.0 spec (or BD-Live) is just days from launch. Sony just announced that the next PlayStation3 firmware updated — v2.20 — will add the new interactive features to your PS3. As such, PS3 owners should expect downloadable video content, ringtones, interactive movie-based games, and the always intriguing “more” when the software is released in “late March.” In other words, in the next 11 days. The update will also allow you to copy photos and music playlists over USB from your PS3 to your PSP. The rest of the new features after the break.
— “Resume play” will enable PS3 system to start playing a Blu-ray disc
and DVD at the point it was stopped, even if the disc had been
removed.(*1)
— “Audio Output Device” will be a new Remote Play setting, enabling PSP
to serve as a remote control for music played through PS3.
— PS3 system’s Internet browser will be enhanced: Video files directly
linked from a Web page will be able to be streamed, and the browser’s
view speed will be improved.
— DivX and WMV format videos that are larger than 2GB will be playable.
— “Mosquito Noise Reduction” will be added as an AV setting in the
control panel of the DVD/BD player for improved movie playback.(*2)

Everyone recognizes the sounds from Super Mario Bros. if they grew up through the videogame era, so why not invite these Mario Sound Bops into your home and office for some stress relief?
With these Plush Mario Sound Bops peppering the course when we squint our eyes we can almost envision being in a real video game. Hit the plush Brick Block on the bottom and you get a coin sound from the game. Jump on the plush Goomba (or simply bop him on the head) and he makes the defeated Goomba sound… unless you bop him one too many and you get the “game over” noise.
Each of these retail for $24.99, but think about it. The Brick Block ought to be the best return-on-investment product considering the fact that it spits out gold coins.

Nexcopy announced earlier this week their USB200PC USB Duplicator is available for purchase providing an economical and easy way to allow companies to dupe their own flash memory sticks. Copying from a master location, you can make quick work of 20 dupes of a flash drive allowing small and large companies to provide sales staff with literature on a flash drive for sales calls or a trade show or provide engineering staff and consultants the ability to bring the latest version of the product to upgrade on site (this seems to be the preferred method as several products I deal with send a consultant with USB in hand for upgrades).
The software used with the Nexcopy USB200PC USB duplicator not only dupes flash drives but has an option to duplicate only new and newer data meaning you don’t have to over-write current data on the flash drive. This function also updates an old file with the newer version. This feature in itself makes USB drive flash management extremely easy and convenient.
Gimmie!
Suggested Price: $1,299

Rumors are rampant this morning that AMD is in the throes of a silent slash in global head-count. An estimated 800 or so employees are expected to hit the soup lines — a number which reflects about 5% of its total work force. Not a surprise given the global downturn in the economy coupled with AMDs recent missteps in its epic battle with Intel. AMD has not made the layoffs official yet. However, the bad news is expected when their Q1 results are announced, if not sooner.

Everyone knows that the iPod fails when it comes to receiving an FM transmission - thankfully there is a host of third party manufacturers who have come up with their own FM transmitters. The GEAR4 AirZone FM Dock is the latest in a long line, featuring a “Made for ipod” certification that enables you to tune in to your favorite terrestrial radio stations. I like the backlit LED display that adds a much needed dash of class to the whole thing, while four adjustable presets and support for stereo sound with full bass rounds off the list of features. It retails for £19.99 a pop.
